Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016 we left Caledon at 5:00 am for Pearson Airport. When we arrived at the airport we discovered that we had forgotten the camera and the laptop at the house. Frans took the cab back halfway were Jr. met him at Tim Horton’s with the missing pieces. Once we landed in New Orleans our checked luggage did not arrive. We delayed driving to Demopolis until the following morning and checked into a Marriott Hotel. To make the u-turn into the hotel entrance Frans drove on the street car tracks and was stopped by a sheriff. He was told that since he had an Ontario drivers licence he could not get a ticket but was going to be sent to jail. Frans blamed me for the driving incident and the sheriff let him off. We retrieved our missing luggage from the airport at 5:30 pm. That was DAY 1!
Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016 - We drove the rented car to Demopolis. We did our grocery shopping and arrived at the boat about 3:00 pm. There was no water on the boat. A water pump valve was broken and would have to be replaced the following morning . We could handle that no problem considering what we went through yesterday.
Friday, Dec. 30, 2016 - The water pump was not fixed until 11:00 am. It was too late for us to leave since we had one lock and approximately 100 miles to go.
Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016 - We are still in Kingfisher Marina. Today is a weather delay day. It is cold, windy and raining. We met Scott and Brenda on CONDUCTANCE. They are from Niagara Falls, Ontario doing the Great Loop also. Happy New Year!!!
