DAY 72 - JACKSONVILLE TO FERNANDINA HARBOUR MARINA (31.3 mi.)

DAY 72 - JACKSONVILLE TO FERNANDINA HARBOUR MARINA (31.3 mi.)

Saturday, July 15, 2017 ~ Paul, the mechanic was here at 8:00 am. and completed the installation by 9:00.  We are at low tide here this morning and when we came in on Thursday at high tide we had depths in the entrance channel as low as 6.6 feet.  We have to wait for mid-tide before we can leave which will be at 11:30 am.

We left the dock at noon and still saw depths in the marina channel from 6.6 ft. to 3.0 ft. but we did not touch bottom.  Being the weekend there is a lot of boat traffic.  While I was a the helm I received a compliment from a small anchored boat “Captain you did not have to do that, but we appreciate it”.  I passed them at now wake.  We docked at Fernandina harbour Marina at 3:00 pm.

Saturday afternoon and lots of traffic on the ICW

Twin Highway Bridge and the Seaboard Coastline Railway
Bridge with a vertical clearance of only 5 feet.
